UACTE 2017

Born and reared in Monticello, Utah, I participated and lettered in three sports. I attended USU on a wrestling scholarship, where I studied Business and Marketing. My work experience is in business management where, for 25 plus years, I managed businesses for LLP’s and sole proprietorships, mostly in the carwash industry. I have worked in management for two national companies; Gallenkamp Shoes and Sherwin-Williams. I received my Master of Secondary Education from the University of Phoenix in 2007 and began teaching Business and Marketing that fall at Riverton High School. Teaching is the greatest “job” I have ever attempted. While at Riverton, I have coached football and wrestling, been DECA Assistant Advisor and am currently DECA Advisor. I served on the MEG board from the summer of 2008, serving as president-elect from 2011-2013 and as president from 2013, until spring 2016. I have served on the UACTE board, as both president-elect and president of the Marketing Division. If elected, I will continue to work tirelessly for the benefit and support of teachers and students in CTE. Thank you all for your time and effort in the service of your students.

I am honored to be running for President of UACTE. I am a believer in CTE. I benefitting from CTE classes and CTSOs when I was a student in high school. And I am still benefitting from it today. I am currently in my seventh year of teaching. My first three years were spent teaching marketing classes at Bingham High School in the Jordan School District. Over the last four years I have taught Computer Technology, College and Career Awareness, and Keyboarding at Canyon View Jr. High in Alpine School District. Before teaching, I spent ten years in industry. I am grateful to have been part of the private and public sector. This gives me a unique perspective of the skills need for student success. As president I hope to continue the excellence that is UACTE and influence our organization in a positive way.
