Jerre Holmes earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah in 1986 with an English major and a coaching minor. He earned his master’s degree in Secondary Education (Administrative/Supervisory endorsement) from Utah State University in 2003. He began his career at Ben Lomond High School in 1987 as an English teacher and assistant coach in football and basketball. He became the head football coach in 1989. He later went to Rich High School where he was the head football and basketball coach and athletic director. He later became the principal of the high school while retaining his duties with football and basketball. Rich won their first-ever state championship in football in 1994 and won two more in ‘95 and ‘96. During that stretch, they won 28 games in a row, which at the time was a Utah state record. Holmes left Rich High School in 2000 and went to North Summit High School. He was the principal and head football and basketball coach until 2011. North Summit won two titles in basketball and two in football during this time. In 2014, Jerre was given the Distinguished Coach Award by the Utah Sports Hall of Fame. A year later the Utah Chapter of The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame honored him for his Outstanding Service to High School Football as a Coach. He is now the superintendent of North Summit School District. Jerre has been married to his wife, Diane, for 32 years. They were high school sweethearts in Cokeville, Wyoming. They have four daughters, one son, and seven beautiful and energetic grandchildren.
